Coral Gables Probate Attorney

Simplifying Florida's Probate Proceedings

In Coral Gables and throughout Florida, a large percentage of estates will have to go into probate. Probate is the court-supervised process where the decedent's assets are identified, debts are paid, and any remaining assets are distributed to the beneficiaries. Under Florida law, there are two types of probate proceedings and these include formal administration and summary administration, with summary administration being the simplified version of the two.

Probate is a necessary process to pass ownership of the decedent's probate assets to his or her beneficiaries. If the decedent left a will, it will be ineffective unless the will passes through probate court; therefore, one can understand the importance of probate. Probate is also necessary for ensuring that the decedent's financial affairs are resolved after his or her death.

Does a personal representative need a lawyer?

A personal representative should always work with a qualified attorney in order to assist them in the administration of the decedent's estate. Since a number of legal issues arise, many of these issues are unfamiliar and complicated to non-attorneys.

With 30 years of experience working as a Coral Gables probate lawyer and as the former chair of the Probate and Guardianship section of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, I am extensively familiar with Florida's probate laws and what types of issues you're likely to encounter.

As a probate attorney, I handle a number of other areas that involve:

I am AV® Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, which is the highest rating an attorney can receive for ethical conduct and legal ability. I have received this ranking because I am 100% dedicated to ensuring that my clients are satisfied with my service. I offer reasonable fees and I am bilingual in both English and Spanish to accommodate the Spanish speaking residents of Coral Gables. Contact me today to find out how I can be of service to you.
