Elder law is a legal term that covers an area of practice that places emphasis on issues that affect our nation's growing aging population. The three major categories that make up elder law include: estate planning, Medicaid planning, and guardianship. While these are the three major categories addressed in elder law, elder law encompasses many more important aspects of an older person's life:

As someone searching for good advice, while you may obtain good information from a newspaper columnist, the right advice can be particularly hard to come by when it's regarding the subject of Medicaid and nursing homes. Since older people face many complicated legal issues such as planning for possible incapacity and long-term care, they can be particularly difficult to navigate without legal help. However, planning for issues such as incapacity or long-term care are very important issues and an important aspect of the services provided by "elder law attorneys."

As a Miami elder law attorney who has practiced law since 1971, I have personally assisted countless clients with their elder law issues and I have published numerous works over the years addressing many aspects estate law and guardianship matters. I am AV® Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, which the highest rating that is given to a lawyer for ethical conduct and legal ability, and I previously served on the board of directors for the Alliance for Aging, Inc. Dade & Monroe Counties.
